Lizzo arrived at the American Music Awards on Sunday night looking just peachy.

The beauty wore a custom Valentino ruffled, baby doll dress. She paired the look with white Stuart Weitzman shoes and Lorraine Schwartz jewelry. This might be my favorite plus size look I have ever seen on the red carpet. While her outfit was on point, I could not get over this glamorous, bold eyeshadow beat! Bold eyes have been in and orange you glad (see what I did there) that she gave us this cat eye lewk?
We caught up with her makeup artist Alexx Mayo, who shared all the products he used to recreate this peach perfect beat. He shared exclusively with Hello Beautiful, “I wanted to create a fun, ethereal look that was soft but still eye catching. I thought of a beautiful sorbet or a delicious desert and came up with this orange dream-sickle look.” Keep reading and learn how to get Lizzo’s beat!

Lizzo is working with Urban Decay, so Alexx used all of their products to create her look. He started by buffing in Urban Decay Stay Naked Foundation in 70WR ($39.00, ulta.com) “for an even skin tone that will stand up to stage lights.” You can also use BLK/OPL True Color Skin Perfecting Stick Foundation SPF 15 ($9.95, blackopalbeauty.com). I love the built in SPF and the fact it’s under $10.00. He then brightened her eyes using Urban Decay Stay Naked Concealer in 50NN ($29.00, ulta.com) to brighten the eyes, and used Urban Decay Stay Naked Concealer in 80WR for contouring the cheeks, forehead and sides of the nose. Personally, when I’m contouring, I love Black Radiance True Complexion Contour Palette ($6.87, walmart.com). At under $7.00, you can’t go wrong and we tried it out just for you!
Next, he used the Urban Decay Brow Blade in Dark Drapes ($26.00, urbandecay.com) with the pencil side first. Mayo instructed, “Softly shade in the desired brow shape. Flip to the micro blade side to add in individual hairs at the front and end of the brow.” For all day wear, you want to set the brows, Mayo used Brow Finish Waterproof Gel ($21.00, ulta.com); however, I find that the setting spray at the last step and spraying my brows works just fine for me.

Now it’s time for the eyes! To ensure the look lasted and didn’t get runny, started with Urban Decay Eyeshadow Primer Potion in Caffeine ($24.00, belk.com) and applied it all over from the lid to the brow. To create the look, he used two Urban Decay palettes. First he started with the On the Run Mini Palette in Highway Queen ($25.00, sephora.com) “to define the crease and contour the eye” using the shades ‘Soda Road’ and ‘Shag Van.’ Next, “for overall warmth and more orange tones” he buffed the shade “Baja” in the crease. Afterward, he used the shade “Sugar High” from the new Urban Decay Party Favor Moondust Palette ($29.00, urbandecay.com) to “brighten the lid and create definition.” He finished the eyes using my absolute favorite mascara: Urban Decay Perversion Waterproof Mascara ($24.00, ulta.com). Sidenote: if you haven’t tried it yet, I highly recommend the eyeliner ($22.00, sephora.com) counterpart. Both of these products are just so good!
Her lashes were also a dream and I stan a queen that uses accessible (and affordable products) She was using KISS Lash Couture Naked Drama Lashes in Chiffon ($6.99, ulta.com). KISS lashes are some of the best, affordable lashes. If they are good enough for the red carpet, they are good enough for me.
What I love about makeup is that you can use products for various things. To contour the hollows of her cheek, he buffed in the shade “Punk” from the Born to Run Palette. If we’re paying for these products ladies, make sure we get as much use as possible!
Since her eyes were so strong, they went for a peachy, nude lip. Mayo used the 24/7 Glide On Lip Pencil in Crash and topped the lips with Hi-Fi Shine Lip Gloss in the shade SPL ($20.00, urbandecay.com). He used the same brand lip gloss in the shade Snitch to add dimension to her lips by highlighting the bow and center of her lips.
To finish the look, he sprayed Urban Decay All Nighter Makeup Setting Spray ($33.00, urbandecay.com) so it wouldn’t budge. I swear by this setting spray, but I also love Too Faced Peach Mist Mattifying Setting Spray ($32.00, toofacedcosmetics.com). It smells just like peaches and perfect for this look! If you’re looking for an affordable option, I’m always a fan of NYX Setting Spray ($8.50, ulta.com) and you can’t go wrong at under $10.00.
Beauties, what do you think of Lizzo’s beat? Will you be trying? Definitely tag me @TheIslanDiva – I want to see!
