Shots Fired Outside North Linden Bar, Two Hospitalized

A late-night shooting outside a North Linden bar ended with two people in the hospital and one person under arrest.
It happened Wednesday morning outside the Oakland Park Bar and Grill. A Columbus police officer just happened to be half a block away patrolling the area when they reportedly saw someone pull up in front of the bar, open fire, and speed off.

The officer gave chase. Moments later, the suspect crashed into a tree while trying to drive through a roundabout median near Weldon Avenue and Dresden Street. He was taken into custody at the scene and later charged with felonious assault. Police say he’s an adult male, but haven’t released his name.
Investigators believe the shooter tossed the gun out the window during the chase— it was later recovered along East North Broadway.
Back at the scene, two people (a man and a woman) were found injured. Both were taken to the hospital in stable condition. Police haven’t said whether they were inside or outside the bar when the shots rang out, and it’s still unclear what sparked the violence.
The CPD Felony Assault Unit is now leading the investigation.
